Product Description

The RO Pure Reverse Osmosis System consists of four separate filtration stages to provide you with clean, delicious tasting water. This kit includes one RO Pure Reverse Osmosis Module with pre-installed filters, 3 gallon storage tank, and chrome, monitored, top mount, air-gap faucet. Changing filters is easy with the unique swivel-valve, push-button assembly allowing for one-step filter changes that do not require you to shut off your water source. It is important that this system is properly installed and maintained with an incoming water pressure of 40 to 80 psi for it to operate as designed. Four stages of filtration trap particulate matter and ensure a greater reduction of chlorine and other materials that cause bad taste and odors. This kit contains everything you need to maintain crystal clear, high quality, and great tasting water. In order to maintain your system in its top performance it is recommended to change out both the Sediment and Carbon Pre-Filters every 6 months, the Carbon Post-Filter every year and the Membrane every 2 to 5 years depending on the quality of your incoming water supply.

Nice system - add a permeate pump - and check your water!

Nice system - add a permeate pump - and check your water!
I've tried many different types of RO systems, and this one is my favorite in the manifold category.Positives:* The automatic shutoff valve (ASV) is not encapsulated in the manifold, which means it can be eliminated when using a permeate pump.* quick change filters are convenient.* the way the manifold is constructed, the "tank" port is actually a tee fitting between the output of stage 3 and the input of stage 4. The allows the stage 3 permeate to be stored in the tank, and with a couple of extra fittings, the tank water can be run through stage 4 when the faucet is turned on. With many other manifold systems, this is not an option.Negatives:* the drain saddle is a bit finicky - if the saddle rotates slightly (which it will do if bumped, even when tightened) the drain will be a bit noisy. to solve this problem - order the watts 164014 drain adapter and eliminate the saddle. This issue can also cause brine leakage at the base of the faucet.* the fitting on the tank is 1/4" - I prefer 3/8" for better flow to the faucet.* the membrane is not high-flowing, and even with a permeate pump, it can take some time to fill the tank during the winter. In Arizona, our tap water temperature varies greatly with the seasons. The production rate of this unit doubles during the summer. On this install, I used the Aquatec ERP-500, which is a "quiet pump" that doesn't click, I might switch it our for the Watts unit, as the noise doesn't bother me, and I think the Watts is more efficient.Since a permeate pump is effectively a check valve - if you want to use the post filter instead of storing stage 4 water in the tank, you need two T fittings and a bit of extra tubing to create a bypass. Diagram below. With the faucet output from the manifold, I elected to install an alkaline filter before plumbing to the faucet, which was a nice addition in terms of taste.Overall, a good system - just pay attention to the details when you plumb it.As a side note - I've seen many reviews referring to clogging in the stage 1 & 2 filters. It is important to remember that there is a not a "one-size fits all" filtration system. Get your water tested (especially well water) and figure out what you need prior to the RO. In my case, a whole-house sediment filter was required to get the RO system to perform as designed.
